Circle-Head Storm Sash
Circle-Head or "Round-Top" Storm Sash

A Circular-Head Sash has a curved top rail with radius equal to twice the sash width. The stiles are tangent to the top rail.  As curved work is labor and material intensive, Circle-Head sash are always made as High-Quality work, not standard construction.  High-quality sash have glued joints instead of the standard pinned joints.  The parts which make up the circular top rail are splined together and the top rail is joined to the stiles by means of a tenon on the upper ends of the stiles.
